DoubleDeckerTrain

As we are supposed to travel to Chennai for a workshop. We decided to travel in the double decker train, this train runs between Bangalore and Chennai starting at 2:40from Bangalore.

We were quite kicked up because of our memories of the Double Decker journey we had in Paris. We took a Double Decker from Paris to the Disneyland. We still remember that small journey so when we got this opportunity we got really excited, India me kaise hoga???

 So the Double Decker is quite similar to the one we saw in Paris. It is manufactured in Kapoorthala. There are two decks but seat no 1 to 6 is on neither of the decks and in fact it is on the normal plain of a chair car. Then from there it goes down and up for the lower and upper deck. 

I would suggest to take tickets of upper deck as it is more exposed to external light. Lower deck seems to be more damp and its seating is in the plain of the platforms you will not enjoy watching out. If the train stands on a platform you will see legs, sandals, chappals and shoes :(

So my Advice go for upper deck i.e. 71 to 120. The seat nos 7 to 54 are on the lower deck. 55 to 70 are yhe other side of the coach in the normal plane.

You will not have any fight for the snacks,tea and coffee. Vendors will keep coming and serving you.

Toilets are OK type but just note that you will have 2 toilets on each side for the double no of people.

The over head racks are very narrow so you can only keep your laptop bags, ladies purses and luggage with soft build. Flight cabin baggage will not fit in the racks. There is some place at the entrance but would not suggest to take risk for those racks. If you have huge luggage then try to take the seats in normal plane.

Seats are not at all comfortable in fact they are congested and stiff. Seats don't recline much and there is no foot rest so overall very uncomfortable seating. These days buses have much more comfortable seats.

One peculiar thing i noted, you will get lot of feedback from the railway track. Any stone which hits the deck, creates lot of scary sounds. Even though its an AC train you will listen lot of noise and cant listen songs without putting your device on maximum volume.

There are not many stoppages but lot of people catch this train so there is less chances of getting it vacant.

It reaches Chennai at 8.40 PM. Runs right on time without any delays.

The fare of the train is which is lesser then the Shatabdi express. But it takes minutes more then Shatabdi.
